TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA / CNN) ̵
1; What was supposed to be a celebration trip to the nail salon became part of a nightmare for a 10-year cancer survivor in the Washington DC area.
WJLA TV reported Iliana Bellard and her mother had gone to get her nails done after they recently learned that her cancer was in remission.
But things became difficult when a trio nail technician began to spit his appearance.
“They called me a boy,” Iliana told the news station. “I was embarrassed a little bit.”
Bellard’s mother explained to employees that her nails were fragile and her hair was short because she had just finished chemotherapy.
“She says,” It looks like a boy makes his nails ready, everyone will think it’s a boy who gets his nails ready, “says Elizabeth Bellard.” And they started laughing. And she says, “I just can not get over what she looks like a boy”, and they just kept laughing at it. “
A social media post about the visit soon became viral, which led to the owners releasing a statement that partially reads:
” We do not support or ever any of our employees commenting on any of our amazing customers. We value everyone who walks into our spa. We apologize for this happening. “
They said an employee was fired and two others will undergo sensitivity training.
