First of all, sit up straight and tip your head slightly forward. don’t tilt the head back. It can cause your blood to run back into the sinuses and throat and can swallow it.
Nose is made by a hard, bony part and a softer part made of cartilage. Generally, nose bleeding occurs in the soft part of your nose. By using your thumb and forefinger, pinch all the soft parts of the nose shut. It helps to stop your nose bleeding.
Avoid packing your nose with foreign objects such as with tissues or other household items like tampons. It may make the bleeding worse.
Apply an ice pack to nose and cheeks. It will constrict your blood vessels and also helps to stop your bleeding.
Pinch the soft part of your nose shut for a full 10 minutes. Use the clock to keep the time. Resist the urge to peek after a few minutes to see if your nose has stopped bleeding.
Now, check to see the nose after 10 minutes.
Most nosebleeds will stop after 10 to 20 minutes of direct pressure. In case, if it does not stop, hold it for 10 minutes more.
When the bleeding of your nose has stopped, you can clean the area around your nose with warm water.
Take rest for a few hours. It helps to avoid bleeding from your nose.
High blood pressure can also because of your nose bleeding. So, check your blood pressure ( measurement of force applied to artery walls ).
When your bleeding has stopped, do not blow your nose for two days.
